Rebecca Laurent is an Afro-latina American actress, and aspiring screenwriter. Laurent was born in New York City, the daughter of Johanna President of goodaccountants.com and Richard “Earthman” Laurent, a profession musician & artist. Ethnically, she is a mix of Dominican (her mother’s nationality) and Haitian (her father’s nationality).
After seeing a classmate’s work in a television commercial, Rebecca developed an interest in the art of acting. Revealing to her parents that this was her calling, they immediately sought out training programs to hone her skills and turn her passion into a profession. She has since then studied at The Lee Strasberg Theater & Film Institute (Method Acting), Caroline’s Comedy Club’s School of Comedy (Stand Up Comedy), The Magnet Theater (Improvisation), Sheila Gray’s Acting for Young Adults program and ACTeen (Film Acting, Improvisation, Commercials, Speech & Voice). Her coaching has prepared her to perform across many disciplines from screenplays to theater.
She made her debut in 2012 acting in a television commercial for Hewlett Packard She appeared on several commercials, including First Citizens Bank (2013). . She also has experience in theater performances acting as Ruth Taylor in Don’t Say No to U.S.O (a musical comedy about the 1940’s), and dancing in many stage presentations including Fort Greene Park Festival & The Miami Winter Music Conference.
